West Highland Way

We did some more hiking. Nothing exotic, but fun nonetheless. We hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland. It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing. We booked the ferry to the UK only one day ahead, so we chose a pre-set route, which is clearly described in a book. Not that you really need a book though, you can just follow the crowd.

Seeing my previous Scotland experience, I was expecting tons of rain. But the weather was actually very nice. We only got seriously rained on three times, although one time was almost all day. We were kind of hoping this would reduce the midges, but no such luck.

After completing the WHW, we set out for three more days of some more hiking. Goodbye to the crowds, goodbye to fair weather and goodbye to civilization. We returned to civilization at Corrour railway station. This is where Ewan McGregor spoke his famous words: "It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the fucking Earth! The most wretched miserable servile pathetic trash that was ever shat on civilization. Some people hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to get colonized by. We're ruled by effete assholes. It's a shite state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and all the fresh air in the world won't make any fucking difference!"

And on this bombshell …
